The Google Drive app has become old as for today, announced by Google on a blog post. The Google Drive app support will be stopped from December 11th, 2017. The app will be completely shutdown from March 12th, 2018. The users who are using the Google Drive app will start getting the notification of service stop from October. As the notification will be like “its going away” for the users. The company will consider the users towards one of two replacements, depends on whether as consumer or business user.
The service is not completely stopped from the web, as the users can access it from the web. The smartphone apps or other software integration access will be provided. Google provides two new software tools for backing up the data. This can be used for accessing the files from cloud. The Backup and sync app comprises all the backup options for the PC and Mac users. It will also replace both standalone Google Drive and Google Photos Uploader apps. The functionality for the Backup and sync app is similar to the Google Drive app. As the users can access all files from one app.

For enterprise purpose Google has released Drive File Streamer. This app will save space on the local drive and will provide access. The company has mentioned that the app will make “all of your Google Drive files on demand, directly from your computer.” The approach from Google seems to be a direct and integrated approach. The user can access all the files from the app and not to stress on every single file. Its an elegant way of backing up files . The company also mentioned that ““Say goodbye to time-consuming file syncing and any concerns about disk space” As it is one of the beneficial way to backup files.
